The Cathedral has many ministries you can get involved with.
Volunteer and get involved, ministries are great way to grow in your faith.
Altar servers are trained to assist the priest and deacons in the celebration of the Mass, and may start after their first communion. Candidates are people of good faith and have a desire to serve at the Altar of Our Lord and Savior. For more information, please contact Michael Ognisty at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Benedictus Youth Group
Teaches Catholic core values as defined by the Catechism of the Catholic Church, in a safe, loving environment for nourishing faith formation. Involvement can include access to pastoral care, faith building through Mass, Adoration, prayer, retreats, and scripture study, participation in the parish and local community, and in service projects. If you are interested in learning more, or would like to join or volunteer, please contact: Titi Kila at 916-444-3071 Ext.13, or email@example.com.
Brown Bag Lunch Ministry
This ministry was established in August 2013, in response to the growing numbers of downtown homeless needing food, nourishment, and a kind word. Now in its sixth year of operation, the ministry is operated completely by parishioners who volunteer their time, and donate food and money. Up to 150 “guests” come daily for lunch and the demand is great. For some of these men and women, the lunch is their main meal, so we make the lunch as nutritional as possible. We like to include non-perishables, such as:
*Tuna or Chicken lunch packs or Vienna Sausage tins
*Fruit cups or Applesauce
*Granola Bars, Peanut Butter or Cheese Crackers or Chips
*16 oz. Water
*Napkin and spoon or fork
Please pack in a paper lunch bag.
You may also make a donation here, or mail a check to the Cathedral office at the address below. 100% of your donation is used in feeding the homeless. All donations are tax deductible. To donate or volunteer, please contact Marilynn_Fairgood@att.net.
Catechist for Religious Education Ministry
This program helps develop catechists, or religious education teachers, who are theologically and spiritually prepared to share and teach the Catholic faith to others. The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament sponsors a series of workshops designed to prepare the candidate spiritually and theologically to witness and share their faith with the children and adults to whom they minister. For more information and the application, go to our Faith Formation page.
Catechists of the Good Shepherd
A distinct Montessori-based approach to Christian formation, through which children as young as three form deep, lifelong relationships with Christ. For more information, visit www.youngsheep.org, or call 916-910-3435.
