PREPARATION FOR THE SACRAMENTS OF PENANCE
(FIRST CONFESSION) AND FIRST EUCHARIST (FIRST COMMUNION)
The preparation for the Sacrament of Penance
(First Confession) is held during the 2nd grade, so that it precedes
First Communion. First Communion normally occurs in the 3rd grade
or after the second year of catechetical instruction. English
Classes are held every SATURDAY 10:00 to 11:30am at Immaculate Conception School. Spanish Classes are held every
SUNDAY from 12 Noon to 1:15pm at Immaculate Conception School.
"Parents have the right and the duty
to be intimately involved in preparing their children for First
Communion. Continued Catechesis is given early in all catechetical
programs for children, in as much as the sacraments require lifelong
participation and study." (NCD)
CONFIRMATION
(Grades 7-12 and over)
Confirmation will normally be celebrated after a period of preparation.
It is hoped that through our Confirmation Program that the young
person will come to a better understanding of his or her commitment
to Christ and the Church.
To help our participants in this growth process, the Program of
Christian Formation will take place on TUESDAY, from 6:30
to 8:00pm at Immaculate Conception School.
Young people in Junior High School and High School wishing to be
confirmed need to register early in the Fall.
